Riff Theory Media focuses on the music community!

Music isn’t just something you listen to; it’s something you share.

From the chorus strangers scream together, to the moments a crowd moves as one, the feeling of being understood without saying a word.

That’s where Riff Theory Media was born.

Riff Theory Media is not your typical outlet; it’s a space built on the belief, the theory, if you will, that music connects us in ways nothing else can. It is for the fans in the crowd, the artists on stage, the stage crews, the ones screaming lyrics at the top of their lungs on road trips, the head-bangers, the ones quietly sitting alone, finding comfort in a song that understands them, and everyone in between.

Riff Theory Media supports all of it and is created for everyone!

At its core, Riff Theory Media is about community. It’s about shining a light on all of the happenings in the music world while also tackling the conversations that don’t always get enough attention: mental health, social justice issues, substance use, suicide awareness, and the lived experiences that so many people carry but don’t always talk about.

This is a place to normalize those conversations. To say, “you’re not alone,” without making it feel heavy or clinical. Because sometimes healing looks like a late-night playlist, jumping around in a mosh pit, getting sweaty in a crowd, splurging on tickets, or crying when a lyric hits a little too close to home.

Riff Theory Media is also a music outlet, a creative hub for concert photography, show reviews, artist interviews, promotions, and everything in between! It’s about capturing the moments that make music feel alive and sharing them with people who get it.

And in case you are wondering, this isn’t coming from a random outsider looking in. I am a part of this community, too. There was a time when music was about the only thing I had to lean on. It got me through, gave me a voice when I didn’t have one, and reminded me I wasn’t alone. Now, it’s my mission to pay it back to a community that saved me, but more importantly, my passion to support others.

So whether you’re here for the music, the stories, the connection, or all of it, welcome to the Riff Theory Media crew. You belong here. Let’s make some noise, rock out, smash some stigmas, and build something real together.

More importantly… Let’s rock together! \m/ (<>..<>) \m/

Founder / Photographer

Tarah leigh is a fun-loving photographer and mental health professional hailing from the northern suburbs of Illinois.

Tarah’s love for photography started early, long before concert stages and festival crowds. As a kid, her first “models” were insects. (Ask her about the roly-poly story!) Her curiosity about the tiny, overlooked details of the world quickly grew into a lifelong passion behind the lens.

Tarah began her concert photography journey in 2004, when she snuck a disposable camera into a Tesla show. It was the first of many wild examples of her dedication to capturing energy wherever it lives. Fast-forward to today, Tarah is a published photographer who collaborates with multiple media outlets. She has been shooting for over two decades, bringing experience and a sharp creative eye to every project.

While she is best known for her dynamic concert photography, Tarah’s work extends far beyond the stage. When she is not in a photo pit or backstage, you will find her immersed in nature, photographing insects, wildlife, and the intricate details often overlooked. She’s a passionate animal activist, a self-proclaimed bug enthusiast, a pet parent to a cockatoo and two cats, a DIY enthusiast, and a fiend for loud rock and metal music, though her playlists span nearly every genre.
